When Something gets Stuck in your Head

Kinda like gum in your hair, only better.  Is this how trends start?  One thing gets the ball rolling and is builds from there.

I'm not sure, but for me, its when one thing catches my eye, and then I keep seeing it over and over again.  And is it because, now I'm more attuned to it, so I'm looking for it, or is it really some sort of trend that has begun and I'm just now noticing.  Thoughts to ponder for sure.

For instance, here are the things that are stuck in my head right now...

OK, because I am a British Flag Geek anyway, maybe its just me, but seems like I keep seeing the British flag EVERYWHERE lately.

LOVE this pillow.  So cool.  Even though it matches NOTHING in my decor, would love to have one.

Oh wait, thats not the British Flag!  OK, really this is just a gratuitous shot of Robert Pattinson.  But hey, ya know.  And speaking of Twilight, the trend that keeps on giving, I keep seeing what I call, "Bella Blue".

See her shirt?  That color.  And her prom dress was that sortta cobalt blue too...but I could not find a pic of it. 

Of course, Fashion Colors, (if you will click on this link, and scroll down to the title, Cloth/Spring Fashion Color Trends 2011 - you will see my Bella Blue's), come in a wide range, but the one that keeps catching my eye is that Bella blue.  The night time news anchors are wearing it constantly down here.

And while I'm rambling on about Twilight, this has nothing to do with trends, gah, I wish my hair looked like this:

The sketch for Alice's hair is the coolest.  I guess in reality its just a shag?  The sketch is way better than the wig she wears.  Anyway.

French Jars
And the last, but not least thing stuck in my head...French Jars.  Tall, clear glass, no lid, medium lip, and I think they are sooo cool.  One of the gals at work, brought several back from Round Top and I really like them.  So when I saw this in the British Edition of Country Living...well, hey, now its stuck in my head too. 

Well, there ya have it!  What's stuck in your head right now? Hopefully not gum.  Or we will have to cut it outta your hair...and then you could end up looking worse than Alice's wig.  :)

Screams of Horror

For those that have asked how come I am not creating...feast your eyes upon this bit of scariness:

I think the desktop is a mash of Halloween, Christmas and who knows what else.  Never finished my Bingo/star project.  Angie's Fairy fell on top of it...kinda looks cute together.

I need to list these and five jillion other things on my Etsy.

And this coffee dyed ribbon too.  Gah.

Got this great Valentine packet from Lisa's Etsy!  Have not even opened it good yet.  And I also ordered a journal from this gals shop!  But at the rate I'm going, Vally Tine's might be over before I get anything done.  And speaking of love...LOVE this!  Love the whole line!  And scroll down and look that that adorable drawer box she made.  Tooooo cute!

But for now...back to ugly.  ugh. 

OK.  Even though I have a slight stomach bug...I think I can hopefully make a little headway on this horrible room.  Hold my feet to the fire on it, will ya?

Arrrgghhhhh!

Well, with that thought being screamed, rather than said, lemme show you what frustration looks like:

And wait, here's more frustration on the floor.  And I'm left with a whole lotta nothing.  Frustrating.  Very frustrating.  But let's rewind shall we.

5:30 am, up to feed the Cattle...I mean er Cats.

5:37 am, back to bed for a Sweet Hub snuggle. 

5:45 alarm goes off

6:00 up to make Sweet Hub some coffee and some lunch for the day.  Yes, I'm a nice wife. 

6:30 cuppa Chai and its off to The Studio to bang out several projects and get many things accomplished. I'm psyched.  I have to get at least two things done before noon.

7:00 nothing is coming together

8:00 ditto above, rummage through boxes of crap looking for stuff that might work.

9:00 gah!  I got nothing.  I go eat a pancake.

10:00 grrrrrhhhhhh.  nothing fits, nothing works, nothing thrills me.  it all sucks.  negative voice in head becomes a roar.  arrgggghhhhhhhhhhh.

11:00 give up all toghether and go watch, "You're Wearing That?". 

*sigh*

Early Morning Thoughts

The kitchen is awash in slanted light early this morning. 

 
The smells of chocolate chip cookies baking and strong coffee brewing, dances in the air. 

These are for my new next door neighbor.  A little cookie love in exchange for the tremendous task of helping the Sweet Hub install a new micro.  A Dollar Tree plate allows her to keep the plate!  I love DT!

And I love mornings.  No, I'm not an early, early bird.  Unless you count the days that heinous hormones come into play.  On those days, those hormones pop my eyes open at 4:30 am. and say, "awake! awake!", like some carny magician from days gone by.  .  Errgh.

But on those days, its all good.  I actually get things done! 

But most mornings, I like to move slow.  Gather my thoughts, and enjoy the promise of the day. 

And the wretched mess above?  Cream colored ribbon that I am dying for my Etsy shop.  And putting some together for the project that I am working on for Paper Cowgirl.

More on that, tomorrow.

Where I Create

I'm late.  Ehhh, what else is new. 

Karen is having her 2nd annual "Where Women Create" party.  And I had fully intended to participate.  But with things being what they are, and this looming in the ever nearer future (as in next week), I've had other thoughts on my mind, and I missed the sign up deadline. 

Well, what the hey, I'm gonna play anyway.  Why not?  The Studio is clean and I'm all dressed so, c'mon, lets go! 

Ta Da!  This is where the fun happens.  LOL.  It starts out as a good sized working space, but always shrinks to two inches. 

But its bright, happy and always makes me smile.  The banner reads, "CREATE" and was made by a blog friend.

It is one of my many favorite things in the room.

A favorite garage sale find houses all kinds of bits and bobbles.

Fleur's stand at the ready, and look pretty waiting for duty.

As do a few coffee stained, glittered birds.

I love color!  Saturated, glorious color. 

On the other side of the room, a giant teacup and saucer is home to all of my stamps.  And a wee fairy.

And CD bins hold inks, glues, glitters and vintage paper goods.  Chalk board tags should be describing each bin, but looks like they fallen asleep on the job.

This multi-tiered bin holds paints, ribbons, photo's and more.  I often call my room "organized chaos".

Ribbon, I love ribbon.  It is one of my weaknesses and this is just the tip of the iceberg.  Actually these are the ones I sell on Etsy.

My room has a very "old world/Tuscan feel".  I painted the walls to resemble an old villa wall.  This chandi is an antique mall find.  The potato chip rack serves as my "inspiration board".

To me, its romantic, but with a darker undertone. 

This nest should actually sit, rather than hang, but I loved the look of it against this old peely shutter.

So there you have it.  I love my Studio, its my favorite place to be.  Now, got check out the other party girls, LOL, that made it on time.  Have a good time at the party!

C'mon Back Little Muse!

Hopefully, this will make her come a'runnin!  I'm so very looking forward to taking this course.  I've been a huge fan of Hope's for ages now.  I'm betting that putting pencil and paper in hand will bring the old gal (the muse, not me) forth.  

I have played with a similar style, but not anywhere near as cool as Hope's.  Or Shelly's   It's funky.  And kind of weirdly fun.

Here is the whole thing. 

I don't know how that particular saying popped into my head.  I was missing my Mom's Pea Salad, and her, and thinking about life in general.  And it just happened.  I had been thinking of a series of paintings with aprons, and was playing around with ideas and this is what came of it.  LOL. And I suppose its true, life is better if you eat your veg! 

Life will go as smooth as you please, if you do as Mom said and EAT YOUR PEAS!

Yeah.  Too much cold meds last week.

Heyyyy, it's my Burfday!

Yep, it's my Burfday today!  And I'm really young (in my head!).  And is it really a lie about your age, if you don't feel your age?  I think not.  So, I'm choosing to be 29.  Again.  And someone said to me yesterday, "hmmm, I think this should be your last year to do that".  The nerve! 

And why am I showing you these pics?  Cause, even though its MY birthday, I thought I would give YOU the prezzie. 

And what's in this little peat cup?  Lots o stuff. 

Some lace, vintage paper doily, vintage silk threads and a fantastic pink vintage earring (I hear the pinks are the hardest to find...is that true?).  Some vintage posies and buttons...to name a few.

But this is my favorite.  Coffee dyed pink dotted swiss and crushed silk pink ribbon.  The ribbon feels almost like paper.  They are so pretty!

All wrapped up in a fun little cup. 

And I think maybe I'll throw in a few other things as well, just for grins. 

This was the "muddy pink" cup that I was going to sell on my Etsy...but I think, I stole the idea from Lynn, or maybe it was Deb, I'm not sure who actually (hey, that sounds like "old age" -forgetfulness - and that is soooo not me - the old age, not the forgetfulness).  Anyway, I stole the idea to give something away for my birthday.  So.  Here ya go.

So, show me the Birthday LOVE (leave a comment on THIS post) and I'll have Sweet Hub pull a name outta the hat (or whatever bowl I can find) to pick a winner on Sunday evening.  So, you have until Sunday noon to post.

Stuck in Neutral

Neutrals.  That seems to be where I am still stuck.

This collection of "muddy pinks" as I like to call em, is going to be some sort of kit or something.

See that dotted Swiss lace at the top...it was a bubble gum pink.  Till it had a coffee bath. 

Poor Sweet Hub.  The last few days, anytime he has left a cup of dead coffee around, I've managed to dunk something in it...be it birds, fabric or lace.   And then he walks back by and sez, "what the heck..." and kinda trails off and shakes his head in wonderment.  See all the fun he had been missing by being at work? 

Actually, I think now that he sees what I really do all day, he's kinda skeered.  LOL.  But, its been cool having him around so much.  Our money situation sucks, but I rather like having him here...so there is that silver lining I like to look for. 

Browns and taupe's.  Vintage and new.  Hopefully a fun mix of notions and "toys" for playing with.  

Not really de-stashing...I don't like to call it that.  Because some things I do buy with the intent to re-sell.  That odd thing to the left of the vintage jewelry is that coffee stained birdie.

I have a Nice Rack!

Yeah.  I do.  I have been told.  So, I just have to boast about it for a wee bit.  I'm sure you won't begrudge me being just a little bit proud.  Let me show ya my rack. 

 

Ha!  Sorry, just had to do that!  This baby just came into my possession via my sweet friend, RB.  I appreciated the darn good price for this, cause I have long since admired them at The Container Store and I know what they retail for.  So when she offered, I snapped it up.  I mean, come on, every girl needs a nice rack.  Right? 

 

So I welcomed the newest addition to the Studio.  Right now, it is sitting just out of the way, filled with assorted projects on the old "to do" list.  But eventually it will go into my (hopefully) organized closet.  Holding all the papers that I have that have thus far killed two plastic rollie bins.

....somehow, someway, I've screwed up my Google Reader.  Arrrggghhhhhhhhhhhh!

Does anyone else do GR?  How do I get my subscriptions back?  How do I get it to let me "mark as read" at the bottom again?  I've looked at it every which way...all to no avail.
