YAPPING CAT STUDIO

OK...it Kinda Got Outta Hand.

I usually do more pics and less yakking, but I feel like I have to explain myself here.  LOL.  This project got outta hand.  Fast.  I just wanted a little pocket to put a present in. 

It started out as a humble coffee filter that was INTENDED to be covered with a heart and wings.  I had envisioned a simple paper heart with wings made out of old book pages that folded over each other and the heart.  I was going to stitch the top of the pocket shut with a blanket stitch (after I had put a little sussie in it).  It needed shred.  Sheet music maybe?

Well, I then thought about shred and decided to use the words, "go confidently in the direction of your dream".  And my printer was out of ink and they came out blue green and then it just snowballed from there.  

Seriously, it just ran amok from there.  The heart and wings ended up on card stock.  Then I thought, well why not hang the silly thing.  And of we went, racing willy nilly, throwing in green letters and vintage red flowers and a bit of trim and well...it really just got out of hand. 

I might have to go back to the drawing board on this one.  LOL.

I stuffed it with the the shred, a vintage fortune, a vintage playing card, the quote in its entirety and then a few buttons, paper medallions and such.  I hope she will find it fun! 

Even if it did get slightly out of hand.

Summer, summer go away...

...sigh...its not even officially not even the first day of Summer yet, and I find myself longing for Fall. 

Its not that I hate Summer.  I love it, if it where just a little cooler.  99 degrees is not my idea of a good time. 

Watermelon, the lake, a hammock, fresh peaches, toes in the sand.  Yep, all my idea of a good time, just not the heat. 

 

We sat outside of Sheridan's yesterday evening, enjoying a dog on a wheat bun and a cup of vanilla custard...but ewww, too hot. 

Some Studio time today!  Yay!  And this is just a few of the tidbits that are scattered around on the desk top today.  I'm jazzing on red and blue/green.  Cause those colors seem to be Summer colors to me.  They make me think of a Beach house...which I wish I had.  LOL. 

And a hammock, as long as I'm dreaming...

gah, it feels like Monday.

Its a......Crown!

ah ha!  Mystery revealed.

I thank you all for your input on this little project.  It helped me tremendously.  I kept re-arranging and re-arranging the elements that you suggested (and that I really liked too) and it finally just came together for a crown fit for a "Star Light Queen". 

The song "Close to You" kept running through my head (yeah, I'm showing my age there!  LOL).  "Why do birds suddenly appear...why do stars fall down from the sky", etc. 

Now if I can just work that "moon dust" in there.  LOL. 

Actually, I need to cover the inside of it and put some glitter on the top edges.  I had thought about putting tissue fringe on the bottom edge, but it just ended up looking a little too fussy to me.

So there you have it, a crown fit for the "Star Light Queen".  I used a few vintage elements, as well as some new scrap bookie things too.  Thanks again for your help in pulling it together.

Possibilities...for a Monday

Aahhhhh, Hope's nostalgic journaling class has been the ticket to coaxing the old muse out of her hiding spot.

Her class has inspired me to just sit and play. 

I found these fun little post cards at Target!

And they are the perfect size to alter and play with in any number of ways.

So, while I have not had much time to play as I would like, her class has been a good kick in the rear!

Which I think my muse seriously needed.  Now...off to "dwell in possibility"..or make that Possibilities!

ps - thank you all for your kind words about my friend Dawn.  She will be so greatly missed.  And thank you for your encouragement to me about not feeling guilty.  Easier said than done, but I'm working on it. 

T I M E or lack there of

What I seem to be lacking lately is time.  There is just not enough time in the day.  I wish I had more.

If you've read any of the the Twilight series, you know that Edward never sleeps and is therefore accomplished in many things.  Because he has an extra eight hours in which to practice piano, read, cook, etc.

 
And an extra eight hours a day would be splendid.  I think.  Especially if I could spend it in the Studio.  Nothing but playing and making things.  *sigh*

Well, I can dream anyway.  But, now I'm off to fill my day with non-creative things, like laundry, dusting, changing the sheets and cleaning the bathrooms. 

Boo. 

If I were a vampire, would I have to clean my house?

Put your Party Hat On!

This afternoon brought to an end, what had been a flurry of emails that had been flying back and forth, between Dee Dee, Brook and Sherri's daughter Christi for over a month now.  BFF Sister's Surprise Bday party.  And it was "pretty in pink". 

Christi was sweet to let us take over, er uhm, help out with the party.  And when you get three crafty gurls involved, well, its just too much fun.  I have some pics, but not as many as I should have taken.  I always get caught up in what is going on and forget to take more pics.  

Each of us (Dee Dee, Brook and myself) did a special something for Sis to celebrate her day.  I made her a Party Hat. 

The colors we used were, pink, black and silver.

Right side of the hat.  I used crepe paper ruffles, butterflies, pink daisies and silver stars (large shimmery and small glitter) to adorn the hat.  

I thought she turned out mighty cute in it! 

Brook made the cutest party favors.

These great "Sherri Fairy" domino necklaces.  Even the guys wore em...it was great!

This was confetti on the table.  Yep, confetti.  Each pic was less than an inch probably in size.  What a great idea!  I think her cousins had it done for her (and had been putting it in bday cards that they had been sending her all month long).

DeeDee  did he most amazing birthday banner and the cutest birthday book and candy jar.  Here is her banner:

It just turned out amazing!  You just gotta shake your head and be amazed when crafty gurls is involved! 

Penny brought the most fabulous white chocolate popcorn (oh.my.gosh) and it was great...cause it was pink and white!  LOL. 

And of course, what's a party with out cup cakes!

**edited to add...this is the worst written post..LOL, but its too late and I'm too tired to change it.

...Easter is on its way.

I was playing around with some vintage Easter images and came up with the idea of a tiny Easter box that could be used either as a treat holder for an Easter tree or as place marker for an Easter table.

For some reason, this was very hard to photograph, but I hope you can get the idea.

Here is one for my young friend Missy Avery, all filled with a few treats!

And one for my niece Jenn.  These stand, where as the little ducky one at the top, can be hung from a tree.  These are a "green craft" as they are made from Dove Bath Soap boxes.

Now you can get a better idea of what the actual size is.

Neglected.

Back burner.  Last but not least.  Or any other turn of phrase that can be applied here...such as bottom of the heap.  Either way it all adds up to this, I've had no play time this week.  I started a collage, but alas, work, Paper Cowgirl, and work all got in the way.  Did I mention work?  LOL. 

But hopefully, I will have some things to post this week, be it in or out of the Studio.

And one day this week is my Burfday...and I'm giving YOU a present.  So keep peeping this week.
